Insurance Verification Coordinator- Patient Business Services 

Chief Purpose of the Position

This position serves to coordinate information from multiple dental and surgical practices to consolidate patient benefit plan information within VCU Dental Care's practice management system. Utilizing an internal work order system, the Coordinator will contact insurance companies via telephone and internet to verify benefits for newly introduced policies, will enter this information into a database, and will keep the database up to date. The Coordinator will contact payers during peak times of plan turnover to verify coverage for new benefit years. In addition, the Coordinator will assist the Patient Business Services department in other areas related to insurance filing, to include verification and account receivable management.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required

Proficiency in Windows-Based computer software.

Working knowledge of dental benefit plan information, and dental terminology.

Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in an open-office, team-oriented environment.

Ability to work in a paperless environment.

Education level and experience

Required:Two years' working experience in a dental or medical office, or health/dental insurance environment.

Required: High-school diploma or equivalent.

 

Hiring Range: $15 - $19 per hour, based on relevant KSAs and work experience.
